The Spencer Denny Centre - Age Concern

Spencer Denney Centre contact us back in August 2019 looking to upgrade their existing ceilings, lighting and insulation to modernise the Age Concern Centre and to bring the lighting and ceilings up to current standards.

We recommended a suspended ceiling solution from Armstrong World Industries, selecting a fissured mineral fibre tile for the Meeting Room, Main Hall and Lounge which gave the Client up to 30 minutes fire protection under the structural joists and ceiling tiles that have great acoustic sound absorption and light reflecting properties.

We also recommended a suspended ceiling solution from Knauf, selecting a plastic wrapped plasterboard tile for the kitchen area, which also gave the Client up to 30 minutes fire protection and a wipeable hygienic surface and again good light reflective properties.  Both of the above tiles were fitted into a standard 24mm wide white exposed gridwork ceiling system, which is simple to maintain and to adapt if ever required.

We also advised on a lighting solution throughout the above ceiling areas, which included standard LED daylight panels throughout, emergency lighting and upgrades the existing strip lights to help reduce the overall energy consumption and improve the overall lighting levels to all the centre for impaired vision elderly people.

We also included polythene wrapped insulation slabs throughout to help reduce heat loss through the ceilings.  These insulation slabs sit individually onto each ceiling tile, making it simple to still access above the suspended ceiling by simply lifting the tile with the insulation slab.

This project took a lot of fundraising by the Client and project planning with us.  We took just over a week to complete this project and handed over to the Client September 2022!
