Staines Project

On this project we were instructed to extend an existing suspended ceiling under the new mezzanine and first floor areas.  The existing ceilings consisted of a plain faced ceiling tile on a standard white gridwork but only achieved up to 30 minutes fire resistance.  This is satisfactory when there is a concrete soffit above the ceiling as the building structure offers the additional fire resistance.

We therefore had to specify a ceiling solution which matched the existing ceiling as near as possible, but also performed up to 60 minutes fire resistance when fitted under the mezzanine.  60 minutes fire resistance under the mezzanine floor is a Building Regulations requirement when people occupy the office floor area above. 

We therefore specified the AMF Fine Stratos square edged ceiling tile, which is a plain faced perforated ceiling tile, which lays flush into the white finished AMF Ventatec gridwork.  This ceiling system offers up to 60 minutes fire protection and has great acoustic and thermal properties.
